Settled on the El Camino.

The insurance adjuster got back with me today, sooner than I thought. The damage did total the car, as expected. We’re going to meet next week and exchange the title and they’re going to cut me a check for $850. I’m pretty satisfied. I’d have a pretty hard time selling the car for that much, even without the roof damage. I had the option to keep the car and get about $300 less, but I’d still be stuck getting the roof fixed which would be costly to get done right. Best to cut my losses and move on to the next project, I think.

  1. Hey, that’s good! It’s more than you had paid for it and that makes it a profitable outcome, right? If you keep your eye out, you’ll come up with another project, maybe even an El Camino. You were looking when you found this one, so who knows!

  2. Oh yeah. There’s always going to be cars out there. I’ve been looking and already found some cool cars and a couple El Caminos, but I’m afraid I’m getting ahead of myself. I don’t even have the check yet, haha. But I’m hoping that come tax time I can take a little of that money and put it all towards something that’s in a little better shape to begin with.

But who knows. Just gotta have some RESTRAINT! The Toronado still needs new springs and shocks. Now that Andrea’s wedding band is paid off, that’s the next monthly money pit. I’m also afraid I’m going to have to put her in the shop for a new timing chain, but I need to verify that for sure. Hey, its an old car, and they don’t just run forever.
